This book includes a list of 400 business ideas. No details on how to start these, just a list (pet shop, etc) It was a good book for someone who never read any other business books.

This book goes so much farther than just a list of 400 great small business ideas which gives you just a tidbit of each and then leave you to fend for yourself. Terry Kyle has given business startups what they need most – not an idea, but a way to make that idea THRIVE. Learn the most common mistakes as well as ways to set your business apart. Discover what type of business is right for you (a franchise, online or something more unique?) and much more. Terry gives you all the tools you need to hit the ground running when it comes to owning your own business.

    Great Jobs You Could Get
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
As a serial entrepreneur, I am always looking for ways to start something new. I have started companies, think tanks, and big projects, both commercial or non-commercial. Therefore, the prospect of getting inspiration from 400 ideas was great. I was intrigued by the title. The thought that there are so many concepts that can turn into companies is a very compelling thing in this economy. Even without assessing any of the ideas seriously, I was inspired.

So, even though I am lucky enough to be gainfully employed, I find myself sending the Amazon link to the 400 Latest & Greates Small Business Ideas to several of my friends, both those with jobs and those without. The suggestion to become a Pick-up Artist to help singles find dates or kite builder who sells custom made kites online were particularly funny and inspiring. Seriously. These are jobs that some people have. The author makes you believe you can, too.

There are some really realistic ideas in here, disguised among the exotic ones like umbrella without a handle and mobile luxury dog washing, both of which may work in and of themselves. Jobs such as tutoring, selling cold call training services to new sales staff of any company, or becoming an Amazon.com consultant (teaching other people how to succeed with sales on this site, that is) could actually bring you an income.

This light-hearted book will become very serious reading material for a lot of people in 2009. Congratulations to Terry Kyle on his timing. Despite its minimalist black and white cover and simple book formatting this book is already a bestseller and deserves to be.

400 Latest and Greatest Small Business Ideas from Around the World.

The editor, Terry Kyle, has a diverse educational and professional background. He worked in advertising agencies whose clients included Pepsi, Kellog’s and Commonwealth Bank. He has had numerous business ventures in Australia for over 2 decades.

Many people dream of becoming of small business owner and becoming his or her own boss. Unfortunately, the type of business to focus our energy and money upon can be overwhelming without proper knowledge of how to execute the plans. This book is a valuable resource on accomplishing your goals. The following topics outlined in the book:

The biggest mistakes small business entrepreneurs make

    The perfect small business model

    The eBay Mini-Merchant Revolution

The single best free research tool for small business research

10 powerful ways to differentiate your business

10 ways to save thousands of dollars in your business

    Best quotes about business

Top new product and service ideas in history

    Buying into a franchise

25 great places to advertise for free

The author’s writing style is concise, straightforward and entertaining with a solid approach that can easily be followed by the reader. He dispels many of the myths with regard to owning your business, the operations, advertising, and overhead costs, for example. The information that is written is practical, realistic and, in my opinion, achievable. The book lists links to resources through the internet that are optimal to your success – such as resources specific to businesses, tools to facilitate your success and methods to promote your new venture. The most cost effective methods of advertising your business are covered to help you start out and stay on top of your plans.

One of the most valuable aspects of the book, is the various business ideas from the most intriguing new business ideas, to businesses requiring a retail location, to businesses you can run from home.

    VERDICT

I highly recommend this book for anyone considering starting their business, from home or from a retail location.
